Whole Family - So far!

I know, I know, I should wait for Glory to get here next week.  But I felt like doing a group photo set today on the bed.

Enjoy!

Poor Didi had to hide behind a pillow for decency.  I'll get you clothes soon, I promise!

Glory's Development - 02

So, onward!

Until I can get that outfit commissioned, I have put together a little modern outfit for her...

Still waiting on the skirt. :/
Well, I thought I had.  Turns out, despite being SD sized, my little girl is too curvy for most SD sized clothing.  So we'll see what fits her when she arrives.  I do have a back-up collage of clothing in Dollmore Model size.  I have read that those fit her body type well.
I tried to reuse what I could from the first outfit.
She should be here next week, if I'm lucky.  I'll have to try the outfits on her and see what fits!  Wish me luck!

Glory's Development - 01

So I got my shipping notice for Glory last night, and I thought it might be fun to do some posts about developing my character into the doll I imagine.

Here is the sculpt I purchased.  I got her in Peach Gold skin with no face-up.  Oh, and the smallest bust possible.  My Glory is not well-endowed.  I may sand down her wide hips, not sure yet...

So here is some art of the character she is going to be based on:

Her Bard costume, and her Travel clothes.  Art by KabukiKatze of DA.
So yes, I confess, she is a Dungeons and Dragons character, originally.  17 years old, on a trip of her own around the world.  Well.  Not really on her own, her father hired a bodyguard to keep his Glory safe!  Bera is a half-giant, and Glory's new best friend.

Glory's New Gown.  Art by Marie-Berry of DA.
She is delighted by novelty, sweet and naive.  She's very optimistic, believing the best of everyone.  Basically, she's a Disney Princess with magical song and dance powers.

Pasque and Glory. Art by Asher Dumonchelle
At one point she is "kidnapped" by this cursed prince, Pasque.  When the two of them met, my friend and I were in love with their chemistry and interaction.  Pasque is a foul-mouthed mechanical genius living under a curse.  Naturally Glory swooned. ;)  By this point, over a year later, we've written thousands and thousands of words of fiction detailing their relationship.

Speaking of Pasque, here is the doll my friendo picked out to make into him!
Pasque and Glory at the ball.  Art by Kennasaur of DA.
So here's the outfits I would love to get commissioned for both dolls.  They wear these clothes to a ball in the D&D game, and I love the designs my friend came up with for them.

Next Time:  Concept imagery and what I have so far!

Cranky Mood? Take Pictures!

So I woke up in a funk, and thought maybe it would cheer me up to snap a few photos.  My models today were Mika...
Making sure his hat is on right...
Juno...
Love, love, love that hair. <3
and when she busted in on Juno's photo...

Lucy!
With those big old ears on show!
I am so, so rusty at taking pictures!  I need to find some free time and lot more space.  Maybe I'll work up the guts to take one or two outside and get some outdoor pictures...

Blugh - Housing Photos

So I wanted to snap some pictures of where my dolls are displayed.  I should have remembered I'm terrible at that. :/
Juno and Lucy in their little living room
See, our bedroom window is to the left of our display shelves, so everything on the right side of each shelf is bright and sunny, while the left is all gloom and darkness. :C

Dinea, Valley, and Didi's foot.  Didi is nude at the moment and didn't want to be in the picture.
Poor Dinea.  She has this beautiful gown and veil, and deserves to have her own special display.  Instead, she's just plonked down on a shelf with the others.

William and the SD shelf
Look at those giant boots!  And the ugly upholstery on those chairs.  Some day I'd like to cover them in a neutral fabric, but for now, this is what I have for the SD size dolls.  Coming soon - Glory, my newest girl, who will occupy the other chair.  Shelf, picture frame and clock all found at Hobby Lobby on clearance.  Yay!

Meg hiding from the sun in her hand-made bed

The other side of her room.  Lots of dolls!
I really need to find a way to light the rooms evenly.  Meg and Mika have such cute little rooms/displays.  I wish I could show you in a higher quality fashion.

Mika in his hand-made bed

His slightly mis-matched furniture and toys!

The chair is a pin-cushion I found on clearance at Jo-Ann Fabrics, and the rest is all either home-made or found on the cheap from dollhouse furniture places or scrap book supplies.  The blanket I just crocheted from scrap yarn, and the bed sheet and pillow are made from a little handkerchief I cut up and hand-sewed.

Meg and Mika's bed frames are just empty boxes I saw being tossed at the hobby store and asked if we could have them.  Covered with a bit of handkerchief fabric and ribbon and voila! Bed for doll. :)

Sorry for the horrible quality, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway!

Two Quick Pics

I wish I could get a better picture of her freckles!

Standing on my messy desk in Didi's old clothes.  I love that scarf on her, at least.

Hedwig's House

Hedwig's House!

Made from little candle display I purchased at Yankee Candle.  Took the metal ring out of the bottom, painted and customized dollhouse furniture and other miniatures

Future Frames!
These are teeny little charms I'll be using as picture frames for Hedwig's house when I figure out how to make little paintings to put in them!  They started off matte black, but I used some bronze metallic paint and dry-brushed it on to make an aged look for the frames.

Magic Shelf

I made her little bottles of magic ingredients from various things.  The labels were printed off in teeny print, then I used watercolors to "age" the paper before gluing it on.

Table and Books
We hand-painted a little table made from scrap wood and flower wire.  Then we got a little set of dollhouse books, and aged the paper with watercolor and sandpaper.  Added some gold paint and tiny gems and boom, magic books!
